Our subject -- systems biology and synthetic biology

The explosive growth in the information of biology has stimulated scientists to explore biology at a new level of complexity and comprehensiveness - as reflected in three major ways:

      - attempting to understanding biology as systems

      - attempting to replicate biosystems

      - attempting to creating new biosystems

Our goal

- to establish in the field by first to attack the area
1) where we have advantages
2) results would have major impact in the field
- to build strength in certain application areas: DNA is the origin of biomolecules

Major subject areas

  1. Synthetic DNA engineering

Emphasizing on the methods and enabling technology development for giga-base DNA design and de novo synthesis.

  1. Protein design and protein engineering integration

Establishing generally applicable software tools and study cases to effectively combine the power of the DNA synthesis platform and rational protein design methods to create novel proteins or protein libraries of desired roles

  1. Metabolic Engineering

Establishing method and system for generation of improved functional enzymes, gene clusters, and mini-genomes.
